South Oxhey pupils will be able return to their primary school as normal in September after a storeroom fire.
Greenfields Primary School has confirmed it will reopen for the autumn term as planned on September 4 despite the freezer fire in a room next to the kitchen at around 6.40am yesterday (August 19).
Administrators said the school was “fine” as there was “a lot of smoke damage” contained to the storeroom, according to a message sent to parents.
“No one was hurt and we can sort the mess it has left,” they added. “I will be back in touch with more information as soon as I can, but we will be open for school again on the 4th September.”

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue sent three engines to the Elleborough Close primary after a resident reported smoke coming out of the ground floor.
The blaze is believed to have started in a freezer, which was extinguished by 7.13am, and the damage was isolated to the storeroom.
Herts Assistant Chief Fire Officer Mark Barber said: “I’d like to thank our crews for their quick and professional response to the fire at a school in Oxhey this morning – their response will have prevented more extensive damage.”
