Delays of up to 30 minutes are expected for journeys during one of several motorway closures over the next two weeks.

Road or lane closures will be in force overnight on the M25, M1, and A1(M) in Hertfordshire at various times during the fortnight, National Highways has confirmed.

One for Watford residents to keep an eye on is an M25 closure from 10pm to 6am each night between September 2 and September 7.

National Highways expects moderate delays of 10 to 30 minutes for motorists using the diversion while it is shut clockwise between junction 20 and junction 21, for carriageway reconstruction and repair.

M25:

  • (In progress) From 10pm August 1 to 5.30am August 31: Moderate delays (10-30 minutes). Clockwise, junction 23 to junction 24. Lane and slip road closure for NEAR Scheme. Diversion via National Highways roads.
  • From 10pm August 19 to 5am August 20: Moderate delays (10-30 minutes). Anti clockwise, junction 25 to junction 24. Lane closures and slip road closures for maintenance works. Diversion via National Highways roads.
  • From 10pm August 20 to 5am August 21: Moderate delays (10-30 minutes). Anti clockwise, junction 24 to junction 23. Lane closures and slip road closure for maintenance works, diversion via National Highways roads.
  • From 10pm September 2 to 5.30am September 28: Moderate delays (10-30 minutes). Clockwise, junction 23 to junction 24. Lane and slip road closure for NEAR Scheme, diversion via National Highways roads.

M1:

  • From 10pm August 19 to 5am August 20: Slight delays (under 10 minutes). Northbound, junction 4 to junction 5. Lane closure for parapet replacement works.
  • From 10pm August 29 to 5am August 30: Slight delays (under 10 minutes). Southbound, junction 5 to junction 4. Lane closure for parapet replacements.
  • From 10pm September 2 to 5am September 3: Slight delays (under 10 minutes). Northbound, junction London Gateway to junction 4. Lane closures for maintenance works.
  • From 10pm September 2 to 5am September 3: Slight delays (under 10 minutes). Southbound, junction 5 to junction London gateway. Lane closures for maintenance works.

A1(M):

  • (In progress) From 9pm August 15 to 5am September 12: Moderate delays (10-30 minutes): Southbound, junction 2 to A1 southbound junction with Rowley Lane. Lane closure for urgent bridge repairs.
  • From 10pm August 20 to 5am August 21. Moderate delays (10-30 minutes): Northbound, Rowley Lane junction to junction 1. Lane and slip road closure for drainage works. Diversion via National Highways roads.
  • From 10pm August 27 to 5.30am September 3. Slight delays (under 10 minutes): Clockwise on the junction 1 roundabout. Lane closure for concrete repairs.
