Roadworks signs have been branded “dangerous” as they are sending motorists the wrong way at a Watford A-road junction.

Temporary traffic lights are currently in place in Ridge Lane while Cadent Gas carries out emergency repairs from Wednesday, August 14, until Thursday, August 22.

But diversion signs at the junction to Hempstead Road are diverting drivers right onto the A-road, despite local highways signs banning the move.

One resident branded it "chaos", adding: “I hope there aren't any serious accidents. Ridge Lane is closed further up but the diversion signs are all over the place!

"There are signs up Courtlands Drive too, people are being directed the wrong way to avoid the road closure," she said. "Really dangerous."

The signs have there since at least Friday (August 16) and are still in place today (August 19), although the resident has reported the issue to Hertfordshire County Council.
