Drivers have less than a month left to secure funding to swap their car for a ULEZ-compliant vehicle.
TFL has called for motorists to submit all applications to its scrappage scheme before 11.59pm on September 7 as any requests received afterwards may not be eligible.
The transport authority said £186,089,700 has already been handed out to over 53,944 drivers, although it added that application numbers are now “considerably lower” than during the first months of the ultra-low emission scheme.
It claimed the scheme has been “highly successful” in encouraging people to make the swap, as TFL said it has seen 53 per cent fewer non-compliant vehicles on an average day compared to in June 2023.
While drivers have just weeks left to apply, not-for-profit organisations, community transport companies and disabled residents have an additional grace period until October 2027.
The scheme has already approved £69 million in funding to 36,008 Londoners to scrap their non-compliant car or motorcycle, while a further £116 million has been paid out to 17,936 people to scrap or retrofit a van or minibus.
While applications are usually limited to Londoners, disabled residents with a nominated driver outside the boundaries can also apply. More information is available on the TFL website.
