Police have upped patrols in an area of Watford amid concern over a group of balaclava-wearing males.

Reports of the group being seen in the Holywell area spread among residents yesterday (August 15).

Herts Police were in the area to look into the rumours during the afternoon and a spokesperson has now made a statement confirming the force is taking action.

“Police are aware of recent reports of a group of males in balaclavas in the Tolpits Lane area of Watford,” the spokesperson said, adding that patrols nearby were being increased.

“We would ask residents to report any suspicious behaviour to police.”

Herts Police added: “You can report information online at herts.police.uk/report, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact or call the non-emergency number 101.

“Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.”
