The details of a crash that damaged a bridge, forcing the council to close the road, have been shared.
Grove Mill Lane, near Hempstead Road and the Grove Hotel, is currently shut where it meets the River Gade as Hertfordshire County Council carries out repairs.
Herts Police have now confirmed that officers were called to the scene after a black Range Rover hit the bridge at 9.36pm on Saturday (August 10).
Update: The bridge has just reopened (2.30pm on August 13)

Herts Police and Herts Fire and Rescue attended and carried out checks on the safety of the bridge, before deciding to put the road closure in place, a spokesperson added.
According to traffic website One Network, the permit for repairs lasts from 8.30am this morning until Tuesday, August 27 - although as it is an emergency permit this may just be a placeholder end-date.
Yesterday (August 12), a council spokesperson said: “The road is closed for safety reasons while we assess the damage.”
