Developers are hoping to create a solar farm on 139 acres of field near Watford.

Plans are in the pipeline to install solar panels and battery energy storage systems at Marchants Farm in Ley Hill Road, Bovingdon.

It comes after similar plans for a large solar farm on a 316-acre site to the east of Watford were dropped earlier this year.

Residents will be invited to say their say when a public consultation opens in the week starting September 16.

Representatives of British Solar Renewables (BSR), the company behind the project, attended the Bovingdon Parish Council planning meeting on August 5 where councillors were told that all electricity generated would be put back into the national grid.

The consultation period will end on October 6 with plans expected to be submitted to Dacorum Borough Council in November.

The planning inspectorate blocked the larger scheme to the east of Watford by renewable energy developer Enso Energy on appeal in April, while plans for a slighter smaller project were withdrawn without explanation in June.
