Motorists are advised to avoid a road where emergency repairs are causing long delays towards the M25.
Hertfordshire County Council Highways is warning motorists to “avoid the queue” this morning (August 13) amid heavy traffic in both directions in Rickmansworth Road.
The delays, between Chorleywood and the M25, are apparently the result of BT Openreach utility repairs near the junction with Wyatt’s Road.

These works are being carried out under multi-way signals, in a road which is already regularly heavily congested during rush hour.
The pavement has not been closed.
A message from Highways at around 8.45am said: “Lond delays in both directions between Chorleywood and M25 junction 18, due to emergency repairs.
“Avoid the queue.”
The emergency repairs are expected to continue until Thursday (August 15). Virgin Media will also be carrying out works in the road, on August 17, but this is not expected to involve any incursion into the carriageway.

Nearby Solesbridge Lane, Chorleywood, is set to close next week.
It will last from 9.30am to 4pm each day from Monday, August 19 until Thursday, August 22, from the junction with Rickmansworth Road to the junction with Sarratt Lane.
Hertfordshire County Council Highways will be carrying out surface dressing, which involves spraying a road with a bitumen binder and then a layer of stone chippings.
