Bridge damage caused by a car crash means a Watford road is currently shut to traffic.
On Saturday evening (August 10), Herts Police confirmed that they were at the scene of a crash in Grove Mill Lane, near Hempstead Road and the Grove Hotel.
The force added that they had put a road closure in place “whilst the safety of a bridge is checked after a collision” and advised motorists to "avoid the area at this time".
Update: The bridge has just reopened (2.30pm on August 13)

This morning (August 12), Hertfordshire County Council confirmed that it has had keep the carriageway blocked-off at the “damaged” bridge.

According to traffic website One Network, the permit for repairs lasts from 8.30am this morning until Tuesday, August 27 - although as it is an emergency permit this may just be a placeholder end-date.
