- Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service raced to tackle a car fire in Watford at 6.20am this morning
- Police warned drivers to avoid Whippendell Road if possible while the road was temporarily closed
- A resident heard a "loud smash" before the vehicle started to smoke
- The vehicle was recovered and the road reopened at around 7.30am
- Nobody has been reported as injured and there were no arrests
- An eyewitness confirmed that traffic appears to have cleared
