The website for Watford General Hospital and all services under its NHS trust is currently down.

Patients have been left unable to access the West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust website this morning, as links now take users to a connection warning page, with the trust confirming that the outage has been caused by a "technical issue".

Update: The site is now back online

In a message shared via its social media pages at 9am, the trust said: “We are aware that our trust and maternity websites are currently down.

“Thank you for your patience while we resolve the issue.”

Clicking the 'advanced' option on the warning page bring up further information that says: “This server could not prove that it is www.westhertshospitals.nhs.uk; its security certificate expired 70 days ago.

“This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection.”

Updated: West Herts Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust spokesperson said: "Due to a technical issue from our website provider, our public website went down around 5pm on Wednesday and was restored at midday today.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
