A “lifelong” Watford FC fan has professed his faith in the club and their manager ahead of the 2024/25 season with a specially-baked pie.
Will Lewis, who owns Willy’s Pies in Hackney, was chosen to represent the Hornets by Sky Sports in its preseason campaign to highlight one fan from each of the 92 Premier League and EFL clubs.
He has paid homage to manager Tom Cleverley, who he said represented a "level of stability" for the club, with a one-off pie which reads “In Cleverley I Trust”.
He said: “I love Watford – and whenever you come from an area like I did and support a ‘smaller’ club, any representation of it, you want to be positive.
"It’s nice to be involved and promote the club and why I love it so much as I can."
The baked tribute initially read “In Cleverley We Trust”, but the piemaker said the club’s controversial run of short-lived managers lead him to change the wording.
- Former coach returns to join Cleverley's staff
- Cleverley wants to strengthen defence, midfield and attack
Will, who is from Berkhamsted, added: “I don’t want to talk for all the fans, but this is how I feel – we've got a fresh start and a new opportunity with Tom Cleverley, a young coach who played for the club is an exciting time.
“I feel like the fans are being listened to, and we have a chance for a fresh start – that's how I envision the next season."
