- Herts Police and the ambulance service were called to the road at 1.15pm.
- The force added that there was a "high volume of traffic" in the area.
- Motorists have been asked to "avoid the area".
- A black Mercedes-Benz and a silver Toyota Corolla were involved and both remained at the scene.
- The Mercedes driver, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital.
