Herts Police have executed a drugs bust in Watford that saw a man arrested in connection with the A41 shooting.
Multiple police vehicles were seen in Woodside, near Harebreaks Recreation Ground, at 9.17am today (August 5) with the force saying it related to an "ongoing incident".
A Herts Police spokesperson has now confirmed officers were conducting a drugs warrant in the area, following which an arrest was made.
"During the warrant, a 19-year-old man from Watford was located at the address and was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder in connection with an incident on the A41 on Thursday 25 July," a force spokesperson said. "He is currently in custody at this time."
The bust was executed after police received intelligence around suspected drug dealing. As well as the arrest, two mobile phones and a laptop were seized.
The A41 violence saw an e-bike rider shot near junction 5 during a run-in with the occupants of a BMW. He remains critically injured in hospital.
Police believe it was one of several recent “targeted” attacks in the area that officers are now linking – which include two stabbings, a Meriden Park row, and a man reportedly being chased with a gun in central Watford.
Today, a resident reported seeing officers smash their way into a property in Woodside and said they were still searching the home and nearby at 12pm.
Prior to the drugs bust, six people aged between 18 and 26 had been arrested in connection with the A41 shooting. Suspected crimes include attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, possession of firearms with intent, and assisting an offender.
They have since all been released on bail while enquiries continue.
