A man in his 60s has been rushed to hospital after he was hit by a car at a Watford petrol station.

Hertfordshire Police closed the Sainsbury’s garage at The Dome roundabout earlier today (July 30) after they were called to a crash in the forecourt at around 9.45am.

The pedestrian was struck by a black Vauxhall Corsa and was taken to Watford General Hospital for treatment, according to the force.

They said the severity of his injuries has not yet been assessed, although it is not believed to be life-changing.

The Corsa driver remained at the scene and their enquiries are continuing, they added.

Footage from the scene shows multiple police cars and an ambulance at the petrol station, although the force said they had left the scene at around 11.10am.

A Sainsbury's spokesperson has confirmed that the garage has reopened after the crash which left a man in his 60s in hospital. 

They said: "The petrol filling station at our Dome roundabout store was temporarily closed this morning for emergency services to attend an incident and we are supporting the police with their investigation.

"It has now reopened and we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused."
