Police have named a man charged with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing, as six other people were arrested in connection with the A41 shooting in Watford.

Arrests were made over a series of recent "targeted" attacks, including a shooting on the A41 at around 5.20pm on July 25, an assault in Meriden Park at around 3.30pm that day, and a stabbing in Brocklesbury Close on July 24.

Herts Police are treating the reports as linked.

On Saturday, July 27, Emmanjuel Nyanutenha, of King George Avenue in Watford, appeared in Hatfield Magistrates’ Court charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place (Brocklesbury Close) on Wednesday, July 24.

The 18-year-old has been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance in St Albans Crown Court on August 27.

Six people have been released on bail after being questioned by detectives in connection with the A41 shooting.

  • An 18-year-old man from Watford, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.
  • An 18-year-old man from Watford, on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder.
  • A 19-year-old woman from Bushey, on suspicion of assisting an offender.
  • A 20-year-old man from Watford, on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of firearms with intent.
  • A 23-year-old woman from Edgware, on suspicion of assisting an offender.
  • A 26-year-old man from Pinner, on suspicion of attempted murder.

Sharing the latest information, Herts Police also asked for anyone who was in Meriden Park last Thursday and has information on what happened at around 3.30pm to come forward.

Detective Inspector Mark Butler said: “Thank you to everyone who has come forward with information so far.

"We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have been in Meriden Park during the afternoon and saw any kind of disturbance.

“We would still like to hear from anyone in the area of the A41 who saw what happened or has dash cam footage and if anyone saw a black BMW in the vicinity.”

A man in his 20s remains hospitalised and in a “life-threatening” condition after being shot in the A41 following a run-in with the occupants of a black BMW.

The victim had been travelling southbound near junction 5 and the BMW made off from the scene in the direction of the M1.

Watford Chief Inspector Andy Wiseman added: “I understand news of these kinds of incidents will be of concern to the community, and you can expect to see additional officers in the area as investigations continue.”
