The London Air Ambulance was called to a lorry crash that shut the M1 for hours and left a man hospitalised.

All lanes on the motorway were closed northbound between Cricklewood and Elstree from around 8.20pm yesterday (July 24) to 12.10am due to the collision.

National Highways said the closure was to allow the emergency services, including the Metropolitan Police, to deal with a crash involving a lorry.

Today, a spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service confirmed they were called at 7.35pm and sent an air ambulance and ambulance crew within four minutes.

One man was treated at the scene before he was taken to a major trauma centre in London by road.

The London Ambulance Service declined to comment on the nature and severity of the man’s injuries.
