Work to replace a bridge “at the end of its usable life” and three more infrastructure schemes have received £1.5 funding.

Three Rivers District Council has allocated the funds from its Community Infrastructure Levy pot to boost e-bike availability, refurbish a football club pavilion, replace a pedestrian bridge, and complete groundworks.

The largest share (£817,231) will go towards the pedestrian bridge at the Rickmansworth Aquadrome, by the Ebury Play Area.

The replacement will be up to 4.5 metres wider to allow shared usage by pedestrians and cyclists. The funding will also bring updated fencing, seating areas, and footpaths for the aquadrome.

Chorleywood Common Youth Football Club applied for £185,903 for the pavilion works while Beryl Bikes will use £45,000 on 15 e-bikes and five parking locations in Croxley Green, as part of a bike hire extension scheme to link it with Watford.

The remaining £456,000 will go towards groundworks and drainage at the council’s operational vehicle storage facility at the Batchworth Depot.

The council’s chief executive, Joanne Wagstaffe, said: “It is fantastic that we can use money the council receives from developers to help bridge funding gaps for projects, like these, that will have a positive and lasting impact on our communities.”
