Police were called to Watford’s Jobcentre after a man banned from the town centre was allegedly abusing staff.

The incident off Exchange Road yesterday (July 23) later saw Matthew King, of Brightwell Road in Watford, charged with failure to comply with a community protection notice.

The force this afternoon confirmed the 53-year-old was bailed at St Albans Magistrates’ Court and will next appear on Tuesday, August 6.

Sergeant Karl Diggins, from the Watford Community Safety Unit, said: “Failing to comply with a CPN is a criminal offence and can result in being arrested.

“We will continue to take action against anyone who breaches these notices in an effort to reduce antisocial behaviour in the town.”

Information can be reported to police via non-emergency number 101 or their website.
