Land in a road where houses sell for millions is up for sale after planning permission for a detached home was granted.
A 204-square-metre plot of land in Chorleywood Road, Rickmansworth, has been put on the market by estate agents Hamptons for £480,000.
In 2016, Three Rivers District Council granted permission for a four-bedroom property to be built there.
- Chorleywood Road house fire believed to be accidental
- Man in court over 'repeatedly strangling woman and threats of violence'
- Watford road named one of most dangerous in Herts for cyclists
It also included three bathrooms, an open plan kitchen/dining/family room, a sitting room, and a garage over two floors but, as a condition of the planning permission, the development had to be begun within three years.
As of 2024, the project has still not gone ahead.
New applications for four-bedroom homes there, with the same design, were submitted in 2019 and 2020 but both were withdrawn.
According to Rightmove, where the plot is listed for sale, the most expensive home sold in Chorleywood Road is a seven-bedroom detached home which went for £4,8000,000.
The most recent four-bedroom property sale recorded went for £1,525,000 in 2021.
Just one home sold in the road over the last five years went for less than a million.
The site would be accessed via Valley Road, where the average house price over the last year is £1,856,667.
