The developer that built Watford’s new tallest building has appointed the town’s former MP as its chair.
This morning (July 23), Regal announced Lord Richard Harrington’s appointment to its board as non-executive chair “to assist with the next phase of the residential-led mixed-use developer’s growth strategy”.
Lord Harrington, who was Watford's MP from 2010 to 2019, has experience running a development business across the residential, commercial and hotel sectors before entering politics.

He said: “Regal is a truly extraordinary business, with a terrific history and a highly knowledgeable board.
“It’s fully integrated model and broad span across London real estate have created a growth trajectory that sets it apart from others in the sector.
“I look forward to working with the board and assisting the business during these exciting times.”
Regal Workspace, a division of Regal, marked The Clarendon’s “topping out moment” (at 25-storeys) in January before announcing “practical completion” of its commercial section, The Clarendon Works, in June.
Whether the appointment signifies that the business intends to have more involvement in Watford remains to be seen.
Regal CEO Jonathan Seal said: “Lord Harrington brings extensive and valuable experience across a range of sectors, including deep knowledge and understanding of the global investor community.
“I know he will provide immense strategic guidance and advice to the Regal board as we seek to execute the next stage of our growth strategy.”
