Firefighters have worked through the night to tackle the “substantial” house fire in Rickmansworth.
Eight fire engines raced to Chorleywood Road after Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Herts Police were called to the blaze at around 4.11pm yesterday (July 23).
Residents were urged to keep doors and windows shut as smoke billowed out of the large two-storey home.
The fire service said crews had “worked extremely hard throughout the night” and that it still had firefighters at the scene at around 7.30am today.

Another resident said the firefighters appeared to be getting the flames under control at around 6.50pm, but by 7.20pm the glass part at the highest point of the two-storey home’s roof collapsed.
