The roof of a large home has caved in as firefighters continue to battle the “substantial” house fire.
Chorleywood Road, Rickmansworth, remains closed and residents are still being asked to keep windows and doors shut as Herts Fire and Rescue are on the scene.
The service - as well as Herts Police - had been called to the blaze at around 4.11pm, and have been trying to get the flames under control ever since, but at around 7.20pm the glass part at the highest point of the two-storey home’s roof collapsed.

A Herts Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “Eight fire engines, an aerial platform and a drone are at an incident in Chorleywood.
“There are no casualties, and our crews are working hard to contain the fire.”
They added that the road closure was due to “large amounts of smoke”.
A witness who drove past the scene said the two-storey home was “well alight” already by around 4.15pm and added that firefighters “have done an amazing job”.
Footage from around 6pm shows the newbuild property almost completely hidden from view beneath the rising cloud of smoke as a hose jet is used to tackle the blaze. It could apparently be seen from the M25.
As of 7.30pm it now appears to have been brought largely under control and there is much less visible smoke.
