There are many things about our childhood that most of us remember fondly - looking for new toys will be among the most popular.

The Watford Observer is delighted to share pictures from the archive at Watford Museum and this week we are sharing this image of children looking for toys.

The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “Watford photographer Bob Nunn captured this group of youngsters browsing through a mix of soft toys in Marks and Spencer in 1977.

“The toys were new arrivals in the St Michael range as shown on the sign above them - I'm sure people will remember that once familiar logo.

“I seem to recall these raised displays made shopping easier but sometimes the metal railings around the goods gave off an electric shock if you touched it!”
