Hello, I’m Leo, a two-year-old lurcher who came into the National Animal Welfare Trust a month ago as a stray.
I’m a bit of a nervous boy and get worried about new experiences. This means it takes me a little longer to settle and put my trust in someone. When you see me in my kennel, I might bark at you but it’s just because I’m scared - please don’t think it means I don’t want someone to love!
I hope I can find an owner who’ll have the patience to help me build my confidence and show me all the wonderful things about life I’ve been missing out on so far. Once I start to form a bond with someone, I can be very loving and show a whole different side to my personality.
I’m a very clever boy and love learning new things. So far, I’ve learnt how to sit, give paw and touch and I can’t wait to learn more things with my new family - especially if it means I get a tasty treat!
I’m friends with some of the other lurchers at the centre so I might enjoy living with another dog, but we’d have to meet a few times to check we get on. I really don’t want to live with cats though - they’re scary!
I’ll need to live with adults and teenagers only in a home with a nice big garden to exercise in. I’d also like it if someone could be home all the time to help me settle in.
If you have space in your heart to help a shy boy like me, apply today. Email reception@nawt.org.uk or call 0208 950 0177 (option 2).
