Two roads in Rickmansworth will be closed at times this week to allow resurfacing work to be carried out.

Church Street and Talbot Street will be closed to through traffic between 8pm and 5am from Tuesday, July 23 to Tuesday, July 30. The closure will apply from Batchworth Roundabout to the junction with the High Street.

Hertfordshire Highways are advising residents who need to use their vehicles to move them outside the road closure area at least 30 minutes before work is due to start each day.

All businesses in the area will be open as usual.

Work being completed during the closure includes renewing the surface, adjusting and renewing drain and manhole covers, clearing drains, and renewing road markings.

Funding for the project has come from reallocated HS2 funding.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Highways said: "For safety reasons, we need to shut down the entire section of the road to through traffic while we work. This helps keep our workers safe and allows us to lay down and set the hot materials.

"We're resurfacing the road for the comfort and safety of all road users and to reduce future maintenance. Over time, the road's surface has become worn due to the high volume of traffic."
