Grange Hill star John Alford will stand trial over alleged sexual offences involving a girl aged under 16, after a Herts Police investigation.
The former London’s Burning actor was charged, under his real name John Shannon, on July 16, 2023, following the probe by the force’s sexual offences investigation team.
Herts Police shared a post to social media confirming the charges yesterday, following national media reporting on the case.
The 52-year-old, of Holloway, north London, is due to stand trial at St Albans Crown Court from December 2 this year, with a time estimate of seven days.

He is accused of four counts of sexual activity with a child, and two counts relating to a second female – of sexual assault and assault by penetration, the CPS said.
The investigation followed a report of sexual offences allegedly committed in April, 2022.
Herts Police have confirmed that he pleaded not guilty to all six charges at St Albans Crown court on September 26, last year.
The case is due back in court for a pre-trial review hearing on November 18 at St Albans Crown Court.
