Bushey High Street businesses said the victims of the crossbow attack were “friendly” and “always smiled” as they paid tribute to them.
Carol, 61, Hannah, 28, and Louise Hunt, 25, were found seriously injured at home in Ashlyn Close on Tuesday evening and died at the scene.
The main suspect, 26-year-old Kyle Clifford, has been arrested in connection with the murders and remains in a serious condition in hospital.
Vicky, who has run the Bushey Post Office for 20 years, said she often used to see Hannah when she worked at the former Bare Beauty Salon just two doors down about five years ago.
“Hannah used to work down the road and we always saw her,” she explained. “She was very friendly and always smiled when she passed.
“Her mother Carol was also very soft-spoken and would always come in to buy cards and support local shops.
“The father would come in looking for the Racing Post, but he was so humble, he never mentioned he worked for the BBC. My heart goes out to him, I don’t know how he must be coping.”
A waiter at the Zaza Italian restaurant down the street recalled his shock on Wednesday when he realised Hannah, who was a regular customer, was one of the victims.
“She used to be our regular so when I saw her face on the news I was shocked as I definitely recognised her,” he said. “She came here many times and I remember she was very polite and friendly.
“She talked very nicely to the staff and it was a pleasure to serve her because she would smile every time and would thank us for every service that we gave.”

An employee at the Barracuda restaurant also had kind words for Hannah and Louise: “The girls came in a few times and they were always friendly, never ill-mannered.
“It’s been a shock for everyone.
"Bushey is a tight-knit area and whether you knew them or not, this will definitely leave a mark.”
