There is heavy traffic in a major Watford road this morning as “essential utility works” are underway.
Thames Water has 24/7 traffic signals in A411 Hempstead Road, near Bromet Close, which is causing congestion and delays for motorists (July 11).
Hertfordshire County Council Highways has advised commuters to “avoid the queue” and steer clear of the road if possible.

The planned works have been underway since around 11.28am yesterday and are expected to continue until 5pm tomorrow, according to traffic website One Network, where they are listed as “utility repair and maintenance works”.
They are being carried out under two-way signals authorised by the county council.
The pavement has not been closed.
