Officers have appealed for information after reports of a gun in what is believed to be a “targeted incident”.

Herts Police had been called to reports of an “altercation” at Watford High Street Station at around 4pm yesterday (July 10), where a member of the public reported seeing someone with “what was possibly a firearm”.

After armed police descended on the town centre, and the station was closed off as they scoured the area, one man was found with a minor cut to the head. He was treated by medics before being taken to hospital.

British Transport Police has confirmed it supported the Herts Police investigation after receiving reports of an assault at the station.

It increased its high-visibility patrols in the area “as a visible reassurance to the travelling public”.

An appeal for information from the public has now been shared.

“Officers believe this was a targeted incident, however there is an increased police presence in the area,” a Herts Police spokesperson said.

“Witnesses or anyone with information about the incident is asked to report it online at https://orlo.uk/A5gWW, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat at https://orlo.uk/RSq7l or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting ISR 547 of 10 July.”

Regarding suspect descriptions, they said: "It was reported that two males were dressed in black riding black pedal cycles, one male was wearing blue pants and a gold chain."

Police reassured the public that the altercation was not linked to the murder investigation in Bushey yesterday.
