This building was a hospital for around 60 years but the entrance to it changed during its latter years.
The Watford Observer is delighted to share pictures from the archive at Watford Museum and this week we recall this view of the Peace Memorial Hospital.
The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “When it was first built, access to the Peace Memorial Hospital was from Rickmansworth Road as the roadway was at the same level as the buildings.
“The hospital was opened by Princess Mary in June 1925, but this photo is from a later date because the war memorial sculptures unveiled in the late 1920s are in place.
“The hospital ceased to have a Rickmansworth Road entrance when the roadway was widened in the 1970s.
“The hospital closed in 1986 and today Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care is located here.”
