A Watford man has been sent to crown court accused of carrying out a £50,000 blackmail plot.
Makan Patel, of Ridge Lane, appeared at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on July 4 charged with one count of blackmail.
The 60-year-old is accused of making an "unwarranted demand” of £50,000 from another man “with menaces” in Eltham, south London, on May 28.
He did not enter a plea and was remanded into custody before a plea and trial preparation hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on August 1.
Update: Patel pleaded guilty and was remanded into custody before sentencing on September 13.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Watford man Krzyzstof Werda, of Sydney Road, who failed to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on July 5.
The 38-year-old was charged with causing serious injury to two people while driving his Mercedes B Class dangerously in Westway, Hammersmith, on January 19 while he did not have a licence or insurance.
Werda was also accused of handling a stolen bank card and failing to provide a blood sample to police.
