Barber shops have been left reeling after two were broken into within days.
Hertfordshire Police are investigating after the businesses in Abbots Langley and Kings Langley were burgled overnight on Saturday (June 29) and yesterday (July 1).
Village Barbers owner and manager Lindy Bushby said scissors, hair clippers, perfumes and cash were all taken when the doors were crow-barred between 12.30am and 1.20am on Saturday.
The High Street business owner said she was “shocked”, adding: “The shop has been here for 30 years now and it’s never once been broken into so it really sucks.
“It’s really sad to know that there are people who do this.”
She estimated that the theft will cost them around £8,000 to replace all the equipment on top of the lost earnings since.
“It’s not cheap and we work really hard for it," she added. "You always have multiple pairs of scissors for back-ups but now they’re all gone.”
Lindy said customers have been “wonderful” in supporting the business since the break-in, and she has gathered enough equipment to allow them to reopen with one staff member.
The Kings Langley Barber Shop, in Waterside, was also targeted between midnight and 6.10am yesterday when the front door was broken into.

Owner Claire Smith said the thieves also stole a bag of tools worth around £1,500 and managed to remove the business’s safe from the floor, which contained over £100 in cash.
The barbers has lost out on business after it was forced to close, but hopes to reopen today.
Claire said she was “concerned” that the theft would affect their business, adding: "We really rely on appointments so we don’t know who will book in again."
Police said it was too soon to confirm whether the incidents were connected and any information can be reported via 101 or online, quoting crime reference 41/52731/24 (Village Barbers) and 41/53372/24 (Kings Langley Barber Shop).
