A man is set to be sentenced at crown court over having a samurai sword and an axe in public.
Sam Smith, of Home Way in Rickmansworth, appeared in Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Friday (June 28) and pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
The 34-year-old admitted having the weapons outside a Harrow apartment block on June 20 “without lawful authority or a reasonable excuse”.

He is due to appear in Harrow Crown Court but no set date has been decided yet.
Bhavananth Ravindra, of Lynton Road in Harrow, was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, for allegedly having a samurai sword, outside the same apartment block and on the same day.
The 44-year-old did not enter a plea when he appeared in Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Friday and he is set to appear in Harrow Crown Court on July 26, for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
Update(Bhavananth Ravindra): A trial date was fixed at the hearing on July 26, 2024.
However on August 7, the prosecution offered no evidence, and the case did not proceed any further.
