A man was taken to hospital and debris left scattered across a path after a driver crashed over a barrier in Watford town centre.
Residents shared photographs of police tape around the crash scene, as a car bumper and solar panel box were smashed on the footpath between Exchange Road and the High Street.
A steel bollard appeared to have been knocked out of the ground while a concrete planter was also smashed in the incident late on Wednesday, June 19.
Hertfordshire Police have now confirmed they were called around 10.02pm to reports of a single-vehicle crash in Exchange Road.

A spokesperson confirmed that the vehicle drove over the barrier on Exchange Road overpass and crashed down onto the footpath.
The male driver was taken to hospital as a precaution although no serious injuries were reported.
There were no arrests and the road was cleared when the vehicle was recovered by 12.17am.
