After suffering arson and vandalism, a locally-listed house in Bushey could be demolished to build two new homes.

Plans to replace Oak House in Prowse Avenue with two five-bedroom family homes have been officially submitted to Hertsmere Borough Council.

The existing regency-style property , which dates back to 1935, has four bedrooms and 1.23 acres of land overlooking the Hartsbourne Golf Course.

If approved, the demolition of the historic building would be archived and the new homes would be built according to the Arts and Craft-style from the early 20th century.

The Hertsmere local-listing file stated that Oak House has “a strong character, evoking regency period architecture and retains most of its original features”.

It added that the property makes a “significant contribution” to the area due to its size.
