More than a dozen new police officers have been unveiled by Hertfordshire Constabulary.

The 16 new recruits - two of which will be based in Watford - were formally welcomed to the force on June 14 by assistant chief constable Catherine Akehurst.

There will also be one new officer in both Hertsmere and Three Rivers.

Former students, a radiographer and school nurse are among the diverse group, as well as a carer, security supervisor and massage therapist.

There is also a former fitness instructor, metal depot supervisor, a personal trainer, an illustrator and individuals with backgrounds in insurance.

The officers' achievement was celebrated at the force's headquarters in Welwyn Garden City, where they received certificates marking the end of their training.

Assistant chief constable Akehurst said: "This job will inspire you; it will stretch you; it will amaze you and test you at all times but there will not be a day when you don’t have the opportunity to make a difference to someone else’s life."
