Magistrates have ordered a Watford man to pay over £500 for dropping a cigarette on the floor.
Ioan Chiriac, of Leavesden Road, was accused of littering near the Guru Nanak Temple in Southall on November 29 last year.
The case of the 49-year-old was proved through the single justice procedure, a paper-only process which allows magistrates to deal with minor crimes without scheduling a court hearing.
Chiriac was ordered to pay £508 in total, of which £220 was a fine.
