Watford Junction trains face disruption this afternoon due to a signalling fault.

Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern Railway services from London Euston to Milton Keynes and Birmingham may be cancelled or delayed for up to 30minutes, according to National Rail.

It is due to a points failure at Bletchley and a separate signalling fault between Watford Junction and Milton Keynes Central, which means trains are running at reduced speed.

The disruption was initially expected to last until 12pm but has been pushed back until at least 4pm.

Travellers may be eligible for compensation from their train operator if their journey is delayed.

It comes a day after Watford Junction lines were disrupted all day due to a man “throwing” objects,  including a chimney pot, from a roof onto a railway line in London.

There were Southern trains to Clapham Junction and London Overground services were forced to terminate early due to the police incident in Kensington.

The Met Police said the man was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage, obstructing a railway with intent and public nuisance, and the lines were finally reopened at 2.17am today.
