Motorists are set to experience delays when a motorway and another major route in the Watford area are shut next week for roadworks.

The northbound section of the M1 from Junction 5 to Junction 6A is due to be shut overnight from Monday to Saturday, June 22, while part of the North Orbital Road will also be closed to vehicles overnight from Wednesday until June 22.

Works on other busy roads are also likely to cause some issues for drivers, starting in Hagden Lane today (Friday) and also including Beechen Grove and St Albans Road.

The following information is sourced from the One.Network website and is a selection of the works due to take place in the Watford area over the coming weeks:

- Works by Openreach in Hagden Lane, Watford, mean disruption is likely from 9.30am to 3.30pm today. Multi-way traffic signals will be in use at the junction with Queens Avenue.

- An ongoing programme of junction improvement, pathway and drainage works means a section of Water Lane, Watford, will be shut tonight from 10pm to 3am. The closure will be in place from the junction with Beechen Grove to High Street.

- Delays are likely when a section of the M1 is closed overnight for most of next week for resurfacing work. The motorway is due to be shut northbound from Junction 5 to Junction 6A from 10pm to 6am, from Monday to June 22. Diversions will be in place via local authority roads.

- Motorists are set to experience delays when part of the North Orbital Road, Watford, is shut overnight from Wednesday until June 22 for stud removals work. The road will be closed each night from 10pm to 5am from near the roundabout at the A414 end to near the roundabout at the Tippendell Lane end in St Albans. A diversion route will be in place.

- Delays are likely in Hyde Road, Watford, on Friday, June 21 when a lane will be closed for works by O2. This is due to start at 9am and a permit has been granted for it to continue until midnight.

- Delays are likely in Beechen Grove, Watford, from 9.30am to 3pm on June 24 when a lane will be closed to allow vegetation by the road to be cut back and cleared. The work is due to take place on the approach to Kings car park.

- More delays are likely in Beechen Grove, Watford, from 9.30am to 4pm on June 27 and June 28 for works by Thames Water. A lane will also be shut at this time.

Drainage works may cause delays in St Albans Road, Watford, from 9.30am to 3pm between June 24 and July 5. Multi-way traffic lights are due to be in use between the junctions of Leavesden Road and Balmoral Road.
