A motorist must pay £1,695 after being caught speeding 26mph over a variable limit.
On May 15 last year, Dougal Fergusson’s Volkswagen was caught going 76mph anticlockwise on the M25 near Rickmansworth when a 50mph variable speed limit was in place.
The 47-year old, of Dog Kennel Lane in Chorleywood, admitted the offence at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on June 6 and was fined £1,132.

He was also ordered to pay a £453 victim services surcharge and £110 in costs. His driving record was endorsed with six points.

Jane Elizabeth O Brien, of Croft End Road, Chipperfield, was recorded driving at 51mph in an Austin Mini Clubman in Bovingdon on June 7 last year.
She admitted the offence on December 20 and was handed a £440 fine at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court on June 7, 2024.
The 51-year-old was also ordered to pay a £170 victim services surcharge and £90 costs as part of the £700 total. Her driving record was endorsed with six points.
