Herts Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to identify after reports of vehicle interference in Watford.

Someone was seen trying door handles in Coates Way, near Garston Park, at around 2.20am this morning (June 6), following which the force appealed for information.

Inspector Daniel Jones, from the Watford Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We are releasing these images because we believe the individual pictured may have been in the area at the time and could have information to assist our enquiries.

He continued: “During recent weeks, our officers have been proactively patrolling parts of West Watford, particularly around the Kingswood and Garston areas.

“Officers have been trying hundreds of car door handles to help prevent residents from becoming future victims of crime.

“Over 30 vehicles had been left unlocked on one evening alone, meaning these were a prime target for opportunistic thieves.”

He urged residents to ensure vehicles are always locked and valuables removed when left unattended. Information can be reported via the Herts Police website or non-emergency number 101.
