Herts Police found a knife and suspected drugs on a man who has now been placed in custody.

The force said their Operation Scorpion officers, who largely operate plain-clothed and in unmarked vehicles, were conducting “proactive patrols” after West Watford residents raised drug dealing fears before the 37-year-old was stopped.

The search, in Durban Road today (June 4), revealed he was in possession of what is thought to be class A drugs as well as the weapon.

He was arrested and remains in police custody at this time.

Inspector Dan Jones said: “Thank you to the residents who raised their concerns with us. I hope this arrest provides some reassurance that we take your reports seriously and will act upon them swiftly.

“If anyone has any concerns, or issues they’d like to raise, please don’t hesitate to contact us.”
