Proposals to enhance the appearance of a hotel and pub that has been serving locals and visitors for almost 270 years are among the planning applications submitted to Watford, Three Rivers, Dacorum and Hertsmere councils.
The Red Lion Hotel, in Watling Street, Radlett has applied to Hertsmere Borough Council for permission to make several changes to the outside of the building, including a new timber door, two new awnings and alterations to the existing ramp access from a beer garden.
A design and access statement with the application states "the intention is to minimise the impact on the building whilst intending to enhance and improve the overall appearance at street level and to highlight building features to the upper levels".
It adds: "The proposal intends to upgrade the current building/operation and what they offer to the customer. In turn this has a positive impact within the community with the potential to provide employment opportunities."
