Hertfordshire Police were called to a “serious” crash in Watford which saw a man hospitalised.

The collision between a silver Nissan Note and a grey Yamaha moped was in Whippendell Road, near the Addiscombe Road junction, at 10.45pm yesterday (May 29).

East of England Ambulance Service personnel also attended and the moped driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The Nissan driver, a man in his 60s, is not believed to have been hurt.

Both people were present when police arrived and there have been no arrests.

An eyewitness warned motorists to avoid the "serious accident" while sharing a video showing several police cars with flashing lights.

In a separate incident, a van driver in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a crash with a pedal bike in Bovingdon.

The cyclist, a man in his 60s, died at the scene after the collision with the white Ford Transit in Bovingdon Green, at around 11am on Friday, May 24.
