Another car has hit the Woodmere Avenue width restriction despite work to widen it.

At 11.49pm on Wednesday night (May 22) there was a loud smash in the North Watford road as a car went straight into a bollard.

In Ring doorbell footage, the car appears to come at the restriction at an angle and continue forward to hit a post on the left side straight-on before it can begin to turn.

The driver then gets out of the vehicle and assesses the damage with what appears to be a phone-torch, before getting back in.

When the restriction was redesigned in August 2022, the darker battered posts, which had been on a very slight bend, were removed and replaced with bright yellow bollards - widening the restriction to seven feet and six inches.

The move expected to stop the regular crashes which gained Woodmere Avenue viral infamy.

While it has clearly made the restriction much easier to traverse, the latest accident has sparked renewed calls for ANPR cameras to allow the bollards to be taken away altogether, as had previously been suggested.

It had initially been put in place to prevent rat-running through the residential estate.
