Changes to deliver new sound stages for Warner Bros Studios Leavesden sooner have been voted through.

Last week, Watford Borough Council’s development management committee agreed to grant planning permission for tweaks to Warner Bros’ Leavesden Studios expansions plans.

Because 90 per cent of the site is within Three Rivers, the area’s district council also received a duplicate of the plan, and it had already formally approved the designs on May 1.

This means that the decision has been referred to the secretary of state and, provided they do not call it in, the adjustments can be made.

The overall plan will see 11 new sound stages, new production offices, three workshops, a multi-storey car park featuring 2,500 parking spaces, and a new roundabout near the A41 North Western Avenue built.

Changes included adjusting the design, size, and layout of some buildings, road layouts, moving car park spaces, and adding temporary food/cycle access for staff.

Warner Bros. Discovery also wants to speed up the delivery of some of its new sound stages to meet demand and therefore sought to adjust the arrangements for road movements.

Large parts of the land covered by the plan, to the south-west of the existing Leavesden Studios site, were green-belt.
