The first of a Watford care home's new community coffee mornings has been described as a "huge success".

Carpenders Park Care Home, in Oxhey Lane, has welcomed members of the public for their first coffee morning.

More than 20 people from the area and neighbouring villages attended the first event last Wednesday.

Home manager Claire Masterson said: "Our coffee morning was a huge success. People were offered a tour of the home and were in awe of our fantastic facilities.

"The wonderful kitchen team produced an array of delicious cakes for people to enjoy with their tea and coffee after their tour.

"During the event, we had the pleasure of celebrating Vivian’s birthday, one of our attendees at the community coffee morning.

"We surprised her with a cake and candle, and everyone gathered to sing 'Happy Birthday'."

Home administrator Fay Hylton added: "Everyone we welcomed into our home interacted with one another so well.

"They went from being strangers to friends by the end of the coffee morning."

The next coffee morning will be held on June 5 from 10am to 11am.
