“Emergency” roadworks could cause heavy traffic near Watford Junction and in a high street from today.

This morning (May 21) Hertfordshire County Council Highways said UK Power Networks has closed Clarendon Road, near Station Road, to northbound traffic.

According to One Network, the “emergency repair works” under 24/7 lane closure are to carry out utility repair and maintenance works. The footway has not been closed.

The closure began last night and is expected to last until next Tuesday (May 28), although this is subject to change due to the short notice.

Meanwhile UK Power Networks is also carrying out “emergency repair works” in Kings Langley High Street.

From yesterday afternoon until next Monday, the electricity distribution network operator is expected to be working under temporary multi-way signals.

The footway will be closed but an alternative pedestrian walkway will be provided.

One Network says that delays are “likely” in both roads while the temporary restrictions are in place.
