Herts Police have confirmed a man was arrested after a dog attack hospitalised a woman.
A German shepherd attacked two people at Woodland Chace, by the canal path in Croxley Green, at around 11.30am yesterday (May 19).
Police attempts to contain the dog and trace the owners failed and firearms officers were then called to the scene before being forced to shoot it “in order to protect the public and prevent further injuries”.

This afternoon, the force confirmed that the owner was later found. A man in his 40s was given a conditional caution after being arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.
Both victims needed medical attention and a woman was taken to hospital.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “An ambulance was sent to the scene and treated the patient who had sustained wounds to her leg and forearm.
“The woman was transported to Watford General Hospital for further treatment.”
On the decision to destroy the dog, a Herts Police spokesperson said: “This is always a difficult decision to make but protecting the public is always our first priority.”
